The 1:1 Teacher Aide provides individualized support to a designated student under the direct supervision of a Teacher or Teacher Assistant. The aide assists the student in accessing instruction, participating in classroom activities, following daily routines, and developing academic, social, behavioral, and functional skills. The position also supports the classroom environment by assisting the teacher with instructional and organizational tasks as needed.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide direct one-on-one support to an assigned student throughout the school day.
  • Assist the student in following classroom routines, schedules, and teacher directions.
  • Reinforce academic instruction and learning activities as directed by the teacher.
  • Support the student's social, emotional, and behavioral goals using established classroom and individualized strategies.
  • Encourage student independence while providing appropriate levels of assistance.
  • Assist with classroom assignments, projects, and hands-on learning activities.
  • Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and participation as directed.
  • Assist the student during transitions between classrooms and throughout the school building.
  • Provide supervision and personal assistance in hallways, bathrooms, cafeteria, playground, and other school areas as needed.
  • Assist the student during lunch, recess, and other non-instructional periods.
  • Help distribute classroom materials and maintain an organized learning environment.
  • Assist with testing accommodations, classroom assessments, and instructional activities as directed.
  • Perform basic clerical duties, including maintaining student records and preparing classroom materials.
  • Operate classroom technology and instructional equipment as needed.
  • Assist with classroom clean-up and basic housekeeping tasks when appropriate.
  • Attend required staff meetings, professional development, and training sessions.
  • Maintain confidentiality and foster positive relationships with students, staff, and families.

  • Physical ability to meet the demands of the position, including assisting with mobility, transitions, and student supervision when required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either:
(A) Graduation from High School or possession of an equivalency diploma; or

(B) Two (2) years of experience in a recreational field, arts and crafts field, in working with children, or in related activities.
