MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:     

There are no academic or experience qualifications for this title.  To be eligible for appointment, candidates must demonstrate entry-level clerical aptitude and competence.

DESCRIPTION: School Year - Clerk is a full time,10 month position (September 1 - June 30)                                          

May utilize a personal computer in the course of carrying out various clerical duties; May sort, stamp, log

in and distribute incoming mail, vouchers, applications and related documents; Indexes and files

documents, reports, correspondence and/or other related material; May calculate and check routine

arithmetical computations; Acts as receptionist, directing callers to the proper person or office and gives

information of a routine nature; Operates various office machines, including personal computers,

typewriters, copiers, fax machines, etc. Assists in taking inventories; Maintains records and prepares

simple reports. Main office clerk. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, making copies, answering the phone, arranging for substitute coverage. 

REQUIREMENTS

  1. Working Knowledge of office terminology, procedures and equipment;
  2. Some knowledge of business arithmetic and English;
  3. Ability to understand and follow oral and written direction;
  4. Ability to write legibly;
  5. Clerical aptitude ;
  6. Mental alertness;
  7. Neat appearance;
  8. Tact and Courtesy;
  9. Good physical condition.             

The Monticello Central School District is in Sullivan County, NY, centrally located between New York City, Albany, and the Pocono Mountain region.  This provides a rare combination to live in a rural setting and still be close to major metropolitan areas for recreation and work.  Monticello is the largest of the seven county school districts with a multicultural enrollment of approximately 2,700 students.
